POSITION SUMMARY:

This position requires a complete understanding of Bike Nation’s business objectives and program. The position is primarily responsible for working with communities and determining station locations. This team member assists with community communication and working with local businesses to join Bike Nation’s loyalty program as TBD upon bike share launch within a community. This position will also interact actively with Event Planning Staff, Street Team Staff and Bike Nation management.

  • Design, promote and administer Bike Nation community action plans and policies regarding site selection, city zoning requirements, public utility needs, community facility needs, any associated housing elements, and access to transportation.
  • Conduct Community meetings and confer with government, social scientists, lawyers, developers, the public, and special interest groups to formulate and develop Bike Nation Community Action Plans.
  • Recommend approval, denial or conditional approval of proposed station locations.
  • Determine the effects of regulatory limitations on implementation plans.
  • Assess the feasibility of proposals and identify necessary changes as required.
  • Create, prepare, or requisition graphic and narrative reports on land use data, including land area maps overlaid with geographic variables such as population density as it relates to Bike Nation Community Action Plans.
  • Advise Bike Nation Management Team on project feasibility, cost-effectiveness, regulatory conformance, and possible alternatives.
  • Conduct field investigations, surveys, impact studies or other research in order to compile and analyze data on economic, social, regulatory and physical factors affecting Bike Nation’s Community Action Plans.
  • Discuss with City planning officials the purpose of the Community Action Plan as it relates to transportation, conservation, residential, commercial, industrial, and community use.
  • Keep informed about economic and legal issues involved in zoning codes, building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Diffuse and/or resolve community concerns and assist in developing alternative plans and recommendations for Community Action Plans.
  • Coordinate work with economic consultants and architects during the formulation of plans and the design of the overall Bike Nation system network.
  • Review and evaluate environmental impact reports pertaining to private and public planning projects and programs as it affects Bike Nation’s objectives.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of urban planning technicians and technologists.
  • Investigate property availability and conduct independent site plans for Bike Nation kiosk stations. As appropriate, negotiate individual site agreements with commercial property owners and/or City staff.
  • Review City and/or County Bicycle Master Plans and advise to the affect these plans have on Bike Nation Community Action Plans.
  • Other planning or related duties as assigned.

Compensation will vary depending on experience.
